The Tuscan capital is a great place to be in summer (as long as you don't mind dodging those umbrella holding tour leaders on a regular basis).
Here's a few things we think you guys would like.
On the 15/06, the MTV music awards are held at the picturesque Piazzale Michelangelo overlooking the whole city. Tickets are free, but get down early to secure a good spot.
One of the huge drawcards for Florence this month is the Calcio Storico happening on the 15th, 16th with the final taking place on the 24th. This is where 4 districts (red, blue, green and white) of Florence don traditional medieval costume to "play" against each other in an old form of football-come-rugby where the rules are somewhat lenient. "Physical" is an understatement.
The 24th signafies the feast day of San Giovanni. You'll be hard pressed to find a better moment to visit Florence as fireworks fired from Piazzale Michelangelo fill the sky showering the whole city with different splashes of colour. Find a spot along the river Arno if you can for the best view.
